| Sprint's crazy "Inferno" BlackBerry Curve 8330 now available Posted: 12 Jul 2009 06:02 PM PDT Filed under: Handsets, RIM, Sprint, EV-DO, CDMA, BlackBerry OS We know you. You're the type of self-styled individual that likes to play by your own rules. You effortlessly mix work and play, transitioning from power lunches, to 2PM meetings, to 5PM happy hours, and you never change phones. You want your BlackBerry to make a statement -- a bold statement (but not that Bold). For you, Sprint and RIM proudly present a new color of the Curve 8330, "Inferno" -- and as the name implies, it blinds the retinas. It's available for $49.99 on after discounts on contract, the same you'll pay for the far less statement-making titanium and red variations. You do want to make a statement, don't you?Sprint's crazy "Inferno" BlackBerry Curve 8330 now available originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Sun, 12 Jul 2009 20:02:00 EST. | Nokia 7020 garners FCC approval Posted: 12 Jul 2009 02:37 PM PDT Filed under: Handsets, Nokia, GSM, EDGE Here's one we know you've been waiting for with bated breath: the lowly Nokia 7020 clamshell has earned its FCC wings on its way to a Q4 release. The phone was always designed as a quadband EDGE device, so it's not clear whether the FCC filing is indicative of an intention on Nokia's part to actually offer the phone in the States -- there isn't any carrier branding and there aren't any carrier-customized buttons on the keypad, so this might just be a formality. Then again, it could make a respectable backup phone or a cheapo to take overseas if they do decide to offer it direct or through the flagship stores -- who doesn't like concealed displays and 2 megapixel cameras, after all?Nokia 7020 garners FCC approval originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Sun, 12 Jul 2009 16:37:00 EST. | BlackBerry Storm 2 spec'd, 3G-equipped original en route to AT&T? Posted: 12 Jul 2009 08:41 AM PDT Filed under: Handsets, RIM, ATT, Verizon Wireless, Rogers Wireless, GSM, CDMA You haven't forgotten about that BlackBerry Storm 2, have you? The Boy Genius Report is claiming it's gotten device specs for RIM's touchscreen-centric maven, also reportedly called the 9550, and while not surprising (and not confirmed), according to his source the CDMA device will be sporting 802.11b/g (which we already sort of knew), a 3.2 megapixel camera, 360 x 480 capacitive touchscreen, and BlackBerry OS 5.0. If that's not enough, the site's also saying a GSM version of the original, with 3G in tow, does exist as the 9520 and is possibly on track for release soon on AT&T and Rogers. All nice fodder for dreams, but we're not getting our hopes up until something more official rears its SurePress-laden head.BlackBerry Storm 2 spec'd, 3G-equipped original en route to AT&T? originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Sun, 12 Jul 2009 10:41:00 EST. | T-Mobile UK lands LG's GT500 as an exclusive Posted: 11 Jul 2009 06:22 PM PDT Filed under: Handsets, LG, T-Mobile, GSM, EDGE, HSDPA, UMTS Want a peek at a phone you'll almost certainly never have the opportunity to own? Look no further than T-Mobile UK for the GT500 from LG where the well-equipped HSDPA full touch handset that we've been tracking for a while now is apparently now shipping. Headlining features include a 5 megapixel cam with image stabilization, AGPS, tethering capability, 130MB of onboard storage, and microSD expansion (though really, what phone in 2009 doesn't have a microSD slot besides the Pre, the iPhone, and a weird Pantech here and there?). Rumors persist that this might eventually show up on Rogers, so one way or another, you're probably going to have to end up in a Commonwealth nation if you want this thing badly enough.T-Mobile UK lands LG's GT500 as an exclusive originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Sat, 11 Jul 2009 20:22:00 EST.
